MODESTO (AP) — Gianfranco Wawoe drew a bases-loaded walk in the first inning, leading the Modesto Nuts to a 9-2 win over the Lancaster JetHawks on Friday.
The walk by Wawoe, part of a two-run inning, gave the Nuts a 1-0 lead before Donnie Walton drew a bases-loaded walk later in the inning.
The Nuts later added five runs in the third and two in the fifth to punctuate the blowout.
Modesto right-hander Reggie McClain (2-0) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on seven hits over six innings. Opposing starter Carlos Polanco (0-1) took the loss in the California League game after allowing two runs and one hit while only recording two outs.
Sam Hilliard was a triple short of the cycle, scoring two runs for the JetHawks.
