Spreckels Park broke open a tie game Friday night in the seventh inning with five runs behind six walks and held on to defeat Northgate 7-2 to win the District 67 Junior All-Stars Tournament at Paul Weston Park.
Aaron Aguilar, Chris Mareck, Jojo Rodriguez, Aiden Loveall and Evan Zeiher all walked and scored for Spreckels Park in the seventh. Daniel Teicheira walked to lead off the sixth for Spreckels Park and came around to score on Ruben Cedano’s single and tie the game at 2-2. Aguilar tripled and scored in the second on Jojo Rodriguez’s double to spot Spreckels Park to a 1-0 lead.
Aaron Aguilar started on the mound for Spreckels Park, going 4.2 innings and giving up two runs in the fifth, allowing seven hits while striking out four. Loveall entered the game with two on, two across and two out in the fifth and induced a groundout to end the threat. He allowed four hits the rest of the way.
Abraham Toscano, Levi Morris, Bryce Flores, Rider Hinman-Shockey and Manoah Ellis all singled for Northgate in the fifth with Flores batting in Morris and Flores coming in on Ellis’ single to give Northgate a 2-1 lead.
Spreckels Park advances to the section playoffs beginning Saturday, July 11 at Paul Weston Park in Stockton.
