Grease! is the word at Ripon High starting with curtain going up tonight

RIPON — Ripon High School Performing Arts Department will be presenting the ‘50s Rock and Roll musical “Grease!”

Performances are tonight, Friday, and Saturday as well as May 1, May 6, 7, 8 at 8 p.m. in the high school multi-use room. There will also be two matinees on Saturday, May 1, and Saturday, May 8, at 2 p.m.

Joaquin Lewis plays Danny Zuko, the cool leader of the “Burger Palace Boys”. Cassie Curatolo is his wholesome, naive love interest Sandy Dumbrowski. The Pink Ladies are played by Carina Ibarra (Rizzo), Victoria Gallup (Frenchy), Sara Werning (Marty), and Kiana Ontai (Jan). The Burger Palace Boys are: Austin Pillon (Kenicke), Jesse Ruiz (Doody), Danny Ibarra (Roger), Matty Gay (Sonny). Dominique Chopard is Patty, Jesse Lozano is Eugene, and Kaitlyn Allsup is Cha-Cha.  Others include David Paden as Vince Fontaine and Sam Beeler as Johnny Casino.

Reprising her 1996 role of Miss Lynch is Ripon High’s English teacher Cameron Burton. Making his debut as guest performer “Teen Angel” will be Ripon High’s Principal Lance Morrow singing “Beauty School Drop-Out”. Other cast members are: Caryn Lake, Rebecca Robison, Sarah Maxon, Alyssa McNichols, Paris Allen, Tiana Tico, India Chakraverty, Courtney Mandot, Ashley Norris, Anissa Sanchez, Simi Samra, Nicole Perez, Brian Newburg, Bobby Gallegos, Tyler Hekman, Alec Vitale, Luis Vasquez and Chris Kem. The pit band is Mark Hofman on guitar, Garry Messick on bass guitar, Jake Messick on drums and Terri Messick on keyboard. Tickets are available at the door only.

The matinee seats are $5 for all seats.  The evening performances are $7 for students (and seniors) and $12 for adults. All proceeds go to the Performing Arts Club.
