Pancake breakfast, car wash helps Shasta 8th graders with expenses

Shasta School’s eighth grade class is conducting a pancake breakfast and car wash on Saturday, April 24, at the campus on Edison Street at North Powers Avenue.

The breakfast is from 7 to 11 a.m. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for kids under 12.

The car wash is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All proceeds benefit the eighth-grade class promotion activities.

DeVinci’s pick-up meal benefits MHS Sober Grad
The Manteca High Sober Grad Committee is conducting a DeVinci’s pick-up meal fundraiser on Thursday, April 29.

The cost of tickets is $8 for spaghetti, salad, and foccacia bread, or ravioli, salad, and foccacia bread. Ticket holders may pick up their meals from 10:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. at DeVinci’s, 1471 W. Yosemite Ave.

Tickets can be purchased at the Manteca High attendance office.

EU High art show on Tuesday, April 27
The visual art will be on display in the school library.  In addition the theater students will perform scenes from 6 to 6:30p.m.in the theater. The jazz band will play from 6:30 to 7 p.m.in the band room.  The choirs will sing from 7 to 7:30 p.m. in the band room.  Refreshments will be served.  Everyone is invited to attend this free event.

EU High JROTC car show May 8
The 11h annual East Union High JROTC Car & Bike Show takes place Saturday, May 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the North Union Road campus. It will feature military displays, the Army climbing wall, Manteca Police K9 demonstration, JROTC demonstrations, food, and entertainment plus a large number of entries in 16 categories ranging from custom rods, classic cars, street cars, and motorcycles and more.

Its location under the stately shade trees in front of the high school makes it one of the more popular car shows. There is a $20 advance entry fee or $25 same-day registration. For more information contact Karl Knutsen at 825-3143

EU cheerleaders drive-thru dinner
Hate cooking after a busy weekend? Then come support the East Union cheerleaders at their 3rd annual drive-thru dinner. This year they are working with Manteca restaurant Chez Shari. Dinner will include 1/2 chicken, rigatoni, salad & roll with butter for $10. The event will take place Monday, May 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chez Shari, 305 N. Union Road. Day of the Arts at Manteca High
Students and teachers in Manteca High School’s Visual and Performing Arts Department will celebrate their annual Day of the Arts today from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Winter Gym. This event is free and open to the public.  

On display will be artwork from the school’s art, design, photo, architecture, and video production classes, as well as live performances by members of the band, choir, and drama classes. A panel of experts will judge the student artwork, with top-prize finishers moving on to compete in the district art show later in the month. Awards will also be given to outstanding students in each of the department’s classes.
