The Bulletin

School may be out for the summer but hunger doesn’t take a break.

It is why starting Wednesday Manteca Unified is rolling out its Summer Seamless Program for children ages 2 to 18 at 21 locations in Manteca, four locations in Lathrop, and three locations in Weston Ranch.

There are no income eligibility requirements or need to register or show identification for a youth to obtain a free sack lunch Monday through Friday between June 3 and July 24. There is no meal service on June 19 or July 3.

Lunches must be eaten on site.

Lunches will be delivered in vans with the Manteca USD-Nutrition Education logo on them.

Typically, the sack lunch consists of a sandwich, stone fruit, vegetables and milk.

Throughout the summer, there are dates where lunch will be paired with hands-on activities, interactive demonstrations, and community engagement opportunities.

Last summer, the program was a huge hit, with special appearances from the Manteca Fire Department, who brought fire trucks, sprayed kids safely with hoses, and handed out fire-themed giveaways.

This year special events will also include hands-on crafts and activities, a garbage truck visit, a canine unit demonstration, a pet visit, motorcycle officer visits, and the Library Training Wheels Bus featuring Storytime.

Barbecues will be scheduled at a number of sites while there will also be a farmers market at select lunch locations.

Visit the website www.mantecausd.net/summer for dates and times.
