Manteca Police officers are staging a torch run on Wednesday, May 20, to raise funds for the Northern California Special Olympics.
The funds raised help provide opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
For every $500 raised, it supports programs for one individual throughout the year including competitions, health and wellness programs, organized participation sports, a multi-day Summer Games event, and more.
A release from the organizers notes the “Manteca Police Department will once again carry the Flame of Hope for the Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of Special Olympics Northern California and we need you to help us get there.”
“This isn’t just a run. It’s a movement for inclusion, opportunity, and support for athletes with intellectual disabilities. And 100% of funds raised go directly to the athletes.”
For $45, you can register to run or walk with the Manteca Police team as well as get a T-shirt.
You can also make a donation or simply show up along the route to show your support.
