Cowell, Veritas, & Lathrop eighth graders advance

Joshua Cowell School eighth graders stood up in recognition of their academic achievement.

Eighth graders of the Manteca Unified School District closed one chapter of their lives Tuesday and can now look forward to the next one.

At New Haven School’s celebration ceremony, Principal Rene Knapp echoed that to the Class of 2025.

“You’re going from being a (New Haven) Patriots, to becoming (East Union High) Lancers, (Manteca High) Buffaloes, or (Sierra High) Timberwolves,” she said at the special event held in the multi-purpose room.

Fifty-one were listed among this year’s class – the program also included recognition of student achievements by Vice Principal Irene Olmos (honor roll) as well as the eighth-grade faculty of Erik Alves, Desiree Coon, Shelley Dini, and Kelsey Nyberg presenting the academic and achievement awards.

Eighth-grade celebrations were held at the following schools:

 

Joshua Cowell

Fourteen students were recognized at the morning celebration held in Joshua Cowell School courtyard for maintaining perfect 4.0 grade point averages for the entire year.

Included were Carmen Aguilar Medina, Alexander Almerida, Kaylee Atchinson, Shaila Barron, Vivi Bonetti, Makayla Bottani, Tyler Castello, Zarmena Katawazi, Murkaan Koharh, Khatelyn Caizyl Laddaran, Katereynn Lafuente, Daniel Novarro, Jacob Perez, Aubrie Strickland, and Braulio Tejeda Zapata.

All told, 66 students were listed on the program, consisting of Barajas, Lafuente, and Katawazi welcoming those in attendance, and Kately Reardon leading in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Lathrop Elementary

Many from the Lathrop Elementary School’s Class of 2025 will become part of Spartan Nation in the coming months.

Lathrop High Principal Melissa Beattie and her Assistant Principal Denna Crowe were at the promotion ceremony in the multi-purpose room to welcome their next group of incoming freshmen.

About 100 eighth graders were listed during the special send-off consisting of Lathrop Elementary Principal Anita Tillotson and Vice Principal Teresa Giombetti.

Ariana Lazo welcomed those in attendance, with one of the first-grade classrooms performing the Stars Spangled Banner.

Class President Rylie Mccurdy served as the student speaker.

 

Veritas

Veritas Elementary School honored “The future class of 2029.”

That’s still a few years away for eighth-grade students of the school, who, instead, cherished the moment during the afternoon celebration event held in the multi-purpose room.

Listed on the program were 141 students, who were supported by friends and family in attendance.

They were welcomed at the special promotion event by Principal Dominique Brown.

Eighth grader Younus Abdellatif had honor of serving as emcee with Madilyn Ibarra performing the National Anthem and Leah Wyman and Pragya Tyagi leading in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Abbey Villalovos was the student speaker, followed by Reyansh Sameer Bansode and Cynthia Cervantes being recipients of the Character Awards.

Earning the 4.0 GPA All-Year Awards were Inioluwanimi Aina, Naseeb Bains, Reyansh Bansode, Ava Diedrick, Avianna Flores, Abhijot Gill, Madilyn Ibarra, Aileen Valencia, Abigail Mac Isaac, Devaney Mamuyac, Grace Mendieta, Khoi Nguyen, Sukhleen Sandhu, Pragya Tyagi, Torie Vickers, and Abbey Villalovos.
