Cards can make a big difference in sons battle

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
My name is Stacy and my son is Garrett. Eight years ago I wrote an article in this paper because my son was dying of kidney failure. He had his transplant June 2001. Since then we’ve had our ups and downs with his kidney, which now its working hard. Through that time he has gone through so many more hospital stays and unfortunately so many more medical things have gone wrong with him. During the transplant the community was so great, he received so many cards at the hospital that lifted his spirits when we said, “You’ve got mail!”

It’s hard enough when you have a disabled child, but even more when there are numerous medical problems. My goal for him now is to reach out to you again to help put that smile on his face again receiving cards in the mail for Garrett. I’d like to cover his walls with cards for him. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do to cure him anymore. The doctors have been wonderful at UCSF and have done everything they could. But this week we are being referred to Hospice. That is scary in itself.

So if you would like to help over these next months and be a part of adding that smile, God bless you.

Send a card to add to his wall to: Garrett Oslin, P.O. Box 193, Manteca, CA 95336.

Thanks again in advance.
