Layla Molina set the tone for a dominant night in the first inning of East Union’s non-league softball tilt at Stagg on Friday.
The junior clubbed a three-run homer to straightaway center, then struck out the side in the bottom half as the Lancers rolled to a 14-0 win in five innings.
Molina also hit a double, finishing 2-for-4 with five RBIs. From the pitcher’s circle, she collected 10 strikeouts and gave up no hits and a walk. The Lancers (3-1) plated nine of their runs in the fifth inning.
Mackenzie Nervis also hit a homer, driving in two with her blast in the third.
Dianne LaFuente reached in all four of her plate appearances, going 2-for-2 while getting hit by a pitch and walking once. She plated four runs. Kylie Gann went 2-for-2 with a walk, a double and a run. Lydia Allgaier contributed a two-run double during the fifth-inning flurry.
East Union wraps up play in the Rainbow Tournament today against Atwater and El Capitan. The Lancers won their first two games over Pacheco and Central Valley on Thursday.
