Joshua Ordner pitched six effective innings on short notice, as Weston Ranch’s baseball team left McNair with a 10-2 non-league victory Wednesday.
“He was a last-minute pick to (pitch), and he threw very well,” Weston Ranch coach David Hager said. “He competed, threw strikes and I’m really proud of the way he pitched.”
He fired six strikeouts over six innings.
Weston Ranch (2-2), coming off a 10-2 loss to Chavez on Tuesday, never trailed but needed a late surge to break it open. The host Eagles plated both of their runs in the fourth to knot it at 2-2, but the Cougars answered with three in the fifth and five in the sixth.
The Cougars had contributions up and down the lineup. Zyale Brown-Sanger went 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs and an RBI. Jesus Gonzales scored twice and drove in two.
“We put the ball in play and did good things,” Hager said. “Really happy with the way we bounced back after last night’s game.”
Weston Ranch gets a rematch with Chavez today at home.
