For 32 years, Jimmy McLarty was part of the Cabral family.
That’s how long he served as master technician at Cabral Chrysler Jeep Dodge Suzuki, 1145 W. Yosemite Ave., Manteca.
Two years in the making, McLarty officially retires today.
“(My retirement) is coming up fast,” he said on Wednesday. “I used to joke about it but now that day is here.”
McLarty and his wife, Nancy, plan to travel. Included are trips to Alaska along with some of the national parks.
He’s also looking forward to doing his favorite outdoor activities, fishing and hunting.
McLarty, in addition, is setting aside time to more visits with his children – Jimmy and Nancy have two daughters – four granddaughters, one grandson and a great grandchild.
“Fortunately, they all live nearby (in Manteca and Ripon),” McLarty said.
He’s called Manteca home since 1963 and became a Chrysler technician in June 1979.
Working at Cabral Motors, McLarty was quickly welcomed into the family.
“I’ll miss my comrades,” he said. “We’ve been one big family.
“Bill, Don and the Cabrals have always welcomed everyone as part of their family.”
Meanwhile, Ray Cohoon started just a few days ago as service manager at Cabral Motors.
He brings in 20 years of experience. His background has been mostly with Chrysler.
“My goal is to provide ultimate customer service,” said Cohoon, who grew up in the Bay Area but made Manteca his home since 1997.
He and Lynda, his wife, have two children, Nicholas, 15, who attends East Union High, and Sarah, 11, a New Haven School student.
“We love living in Manteca,” Ray Cohoon said. “It’s a great community with a great school system.”
He also enjoys his work.
“The people here have been great (in helping me) make a smooth transition,” said Cohoon.
