An all-way stop at Moffat Boulevard and Powers Avenue is among the street improvements that are listed for possible funding using Senate Bill 1 Road Repair and Accountability Act receipts.
Moffat has the longest two-lane stretch of roadway among streets that function as an arterial in central Manteca that is not interrupted by stop signs, traffic signals or roundabouts.
That in itself lends to traffic exceeding the posted speed. But because there are no streets intersecting Moffat from the south and the street is wide, it creates fast-paced traffic.
Toss on a semi-blind curve to the west of Powers Avenue along with a pedestrian crosswalk to reach the Tidewater Bikeway, Powers’ intersection with Moffat becomes dicey not just for motorists turning right or left onto Moffat but pedestrians trying to cross the street.
Other projects listed in the 2026-2027 time frame that the city could use some of the $2.6 million of Manteca’s share of the next allocation of Senate Bill 1 funds are:
*Pavement upgrades on the Industrial Park Drive railroad crossing south of Moffat.
*Yosemite Avenue from Main Street to Walnut Avenue pavement work.
*Moving the Airport Way widening project between Center Street and Wawona Street forward.
*Neighborhood pavement maintenance projects.
