Plans for what will be Lathrop’s largest health care center are before city planners when they meet tonight at 6 p.m.

The planning commission will also review plans for a new employer: Jifco Pipe Manufacturing at 1520 Lathrop Road on a site that also borders D Street.

Jifco intends to relocate their operations now based in Livermore to Lathrop once a 2-story office and four manufacturing buildings encompasses 126,965 square feet are completed.

Sutter Health has submitted plans for the 2-story, 42,415 square-foot care center being built in the River Island planned community.

It will front a street appropriately named Sutter Gould Way just south of where the Redwood Cafe is being constructed and north of a future supermarket site where the River Islands Welcome Center is now located.

Access points will be from Garden Farms Avenue to the south, Somerston Parkway to the west, and Sutter Gould Way to the east. There are 200 parking spaces.

The center will offer laboratory services, imaging services, internal medicine, OB/GYN, orthopedics, cardiology, family medicine, podiatry, and pediatrics.

It will feature 38 exam rooms as well as support 18 full-time providers

Plans are for hours to be Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There are expected to be more than 50 employees at the location.

Sutter Health is currently finishing construction of an urgent care center in the Lathrop Target shopping center complex.

The two projects are part of an initiative to expand quality state-of-the-art care in the Northern San Joaquin Valley and provide specialty services to reduce the need to drive out of the region to the Bay Area or Sacramento.

It includes a $350 million Modesto Cancer Center targeted to open in 2029.

Manteca Care Center South as opened last year at The Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley in Manteca.

The Manteca Care Center North at 165 St. Dominic Drive has been remodeled and expanded to include behavioral health, pulmonology, and weight management services.

The new River Islands health care complex is targeting a 2028 opening.
