RIPON – The second annual Rina’s Run is still a month away.

But those looking to take part in the Ripon Community Athletic Foundation’s 10 kilometer of 5K walk can make plans for Saturday, May 9.

The Ripon Community and Youth Commission is also a co-sponsor of the event honoring the memory of the Brocchini family matriarch.

Proceeds will benefit the Stouffer Field revitalization project at Ripon High. RCAF has been working for nearly two years on bringing a synthetic football / soccer field coupled with an eight-lane, all-weather track surface to the local sports venue.

The Rina’s Run races are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Fonseca Farms and Tuff Boy Leasing are among the donors to the event honoring the Rina Brocchini legacy.

According to RCAF President Stephanie Hobbs, Rina’s Run can be a health opportunity for families and individuals of all ages to have fun while being physically active.
“Rina’s Run has something for everyone,” she recently said.

Included is a one-mile run for children ages 5 through 12, starting at 8 a.m. along Acacia Avenue.

Participants in the 5K  run / walk and 10K run are scheduled to take their mark at about 8:30.

“(They will) head down to Doak for a beautiful run through Ripon,” Hobbs said.
All events will be professionally timed.

In addition, each participant will receive a t-shirt, good bags, and post race refreshments.

Snap shots of the race will be made available from the professional work of Belle Voir Photography.

As for youngsters in Ripon Unified, they’ll have a chance to earn extra PE credits for their participation in the races.
