The South County’s most enduring Christmas tradition — the presentation of Handel’s Messiah” by singers from throughout the greater community coming together — is now in its 76th year.
Rehearsals for the “Messiah”, the great masterwork oratorio by Handel, will begin in Ripon on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 3 p m, at the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church, 517 Orange Avenue.
This year marks the 76th annual (with the exception of COVID years) presentation of the “ Messiah” in Ripon.
Rehearsals will be held each Sunday in November, the 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th.
The presentation will be given on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 3 p.m. in the church.
Singers high school age and older are welcome and encouraged to join the chorus.
Singers typically come from as far as Turlock, Manteca, Escalon and Modesto as well as Ripon.
The Ripon Oratorio Society asks for a $10 contribution for expenses from each singer. There will be some "Messiah" scores available for purchase.
Yolanda Partan will conduct. Accompanists include Glenn De Jong and Teresa Eschon.
