Ripon Rotary Club is once again looking to furnish dictionaries to third-grade students in town.

The annual “Ribs & Hops” scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at New Buds Nursery, 23563 Manteca Road., will provide the funding for that.

Cost is $45 with tickets available at IMS Lending, 467 N. Wilma Ave. Ste. 1, 209.610.8042; Barnwood Arms, 120 E. Main St., 209.599.4651; or by contacting any local Rotarian.

“We’ll have five micro brews here for people to taste,” said Rotarian John Mangelos on Monday.

Included is Black Orchid Brewery, which will soon be opening shop in downtown Ripon.

The local craft beer place founded in 2013 features head brew master Joffre Roberts III along with Henry and Tyanne Penado.

Black Orchid Brewery have been active participants at festivals along San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties, including “Red, White & Brew” in Manteca benefitting Give Every Child A Chance.

“This will be a good time to welcome the new business to town,” Mangelos said.

He added that the small dictionaries will go to those students in Ripon Unified – namely, Colony Oak, Park View, Weston, Ripona and Ripon Elementary – and Ripon Christian Schools.

The “Ribs & Hops” dinner will consist of large-sized beef ribs along with bake potatoes, tossed green salad and a dinner roll.
