The City of Ripon takes pride in its streets.
The Ripon City Council took notice of that at last week’s session.
Various street locations in town have been patched or repaired in recent months.
For that, elected leaders approved Tom Mayo Construction Inc. for the original contract (not to exceed $40,000 conducted in March) – included were 59 locations in need of removing and replacing parts of the roadway to match the existing thickness per city’s repair list – along with 15 extra locations conducted in June to patch repairs due to water leaks, adding to the field change.
The contract invoice for that tallied $49,000.
Vice Mayor Leo Zuber noted that many cities are concerned about the deterioration of their streets.
He’s pleased with the approach Ripon takes in order to maintain the upkeep of the roads, in turn, receiving compliments from residents.
Zuber along with Councilmember Gary Barton also praised Public Works Director James Pease and his staff for their approach in maintaining the city streets.
Temporary fence gets OK
behind Ripon City Hall
Richter Fence Inc. was recently hired to replace a temporary fence located behind Ripon City Hall / Ripon Police Department building.
According to City of Ripon’s Public Works Director James Pease, the job calls for the local business to install a permanent slatted privacy fence to replace the temporary structure along the parking lot adjacent to the Curt Pernice Skate Park at 1250 Hughes Lane.
No discussion was necessary at the Oct. 10 City Council meeting.
Pease noted that this project was approved as part of the fiscal year 2023-2024 city budget.
Cost for Richter Fence to do the fencing project will be paid via the Department Capital Fund, not to exceed the cost of $19,900.
