Ripon Unified — after six years of basically stabilized enrollment — is projected to grow almost 25 percent by the 2030-2031 school year.

That is one of the key premises of the updated facilities master plan that was before the Ripon Unified School District board for adoption on Monday.

Ripon Unified could have 837 more students five years from now.

That would take district enrollment that was at 3,277 in the 2025-2026 school year to 4,114 in 2030-2031.

High school enrollment would go from 1,027 to 1,224 for a gain of 197.

Most of the growth is expected to come from new home construction in southeast Manteca.

Ripon had 75 less students five years ago.

Based on local loading standards that takes into account existing classrooms — permanent and portable — as well as established teacher-student ratios, Ripon Unified has adequate capacity at existing campuses to accommodate growth over the next five years.

That said, the district overall would still have capacity for 364 students at the end of the 2030-3031 school year under the current growth scenario,

The state loading standard — which doesn’t view portables as being available to permanently house students — puts the overall district capacity currently at 3,672. Under the state standard, Ripon Unified could be 442 students over capacity in five years.

Ripon High, under the state loading methodology, has a design capacity of 810 students meaning it is currently 192 students over capacity.

The facilities master plan focuses on improving the condition and functionality of existing classrooms including replacement of portable classrooms with permanent buildings.

It also incudes strategic new construction at Ripon High to better support current educational programs.
