Threat of rain means Woodward egg hunt will be a drive thru
Easter egg hunt

The threat of inclement weather isn’t cancelling Saturday’s free Easter egg hunt event at Woodward Park.

But instead of hunting for the 14,000 free eggs, they will be handed out to families when they drive up to the event being staged by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6311 Auxiliary and the Sunrise Kiwanis.

The line for the giveaway of plastic eggs stuffed with candy will start forming at 10:30 a.m. The egg distribution will start at 11 a.m. sharp.

Those receiving eggs are advised to check them to see if they have one of the number of lucky tickets that will allow them to collect a gift at the prize table.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for the return of rainy weather this afternoon.

Between today and Sunday, 0.25 and 0.5 inches of rain is expected to fall in the Manteca-Ripon-Lathrop area.

There is a chance of thunderstorms on Saturday.

Snow level will be as low as 6,000 to 7,000 feet on Saturday and will drop down to somewhere between 3,500 and 5,000 feet on Sunday.

The expectation is for 8 to 18 inches of snow above 5,000 feet 2 to 3 feet on the highest peaks along the Sierra crest.

Wind gusts may reach 45 mph.
