Yosemite Avenue work starts Monday

The last phase of the East Yosemite Avenue pavement upgrade work starts Monday.

Teichert Construction crews will conduct grinding and paving work on Monday and Tuesday on Yosemite Avenue between Powers Avenue and Cottage Avenue. The work will take place during daylight hours.

One lane in each direction will remain open at all times.

Crews late last year tackled the Powers Avenue to Main Street segment. That work was much more complicated and time consuming as there was an extensive slope of the street that had to be reduced, PG&E gas line work was involved as well as the replacement of a city water main. Various curb cuts were needed to comply with current Americans with Disabilities Act requirements as well as the installation of overhead crosswalk flashers at intersections with both Sherman and Garfield avenues by Manteca High.

The $2.8 million contract awarded to Teichert Construction to upgrade Yosemite Avenue between Main Street and Cottage Avenue is being funded primarily with federal funds and augmented with local gas tax and Measure K receipts.
