LINDA  (AP) — Yuba County sheriff's deputies say a 30-year-old Linda man who won a $2 million lottery jackpot in February has been arrested for investigation of receiving stolen property.

Lt. Damon Gil tells the Marysville Appeal-Democrat (that John Ross Jr. was arrested for allegedly helping a Hayward woman hide and repair a stolen car.

Ross posted bail shortly after he was booked on Sunday.

The paper was unable to reach Ross by phone, but in February he told a reporter he planned to buy a car with his $5 scratcher winnings.

He opted for cash payments over 20 years and said he hoped his life would be better.

Ross was ordered to appear in Yuba County Superior Court on July 17.

Linda is 50 miles north of Sacramento.
