SOLO ACCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 99 KILLS SCHOOL POLICE OFFICER: LODI - The driver who died when her Honda Accord clipped another car and veered into a tree off Highway 99 Thursday morning was a Stockton school district police officer.

Kimberly Pinto, 39, was the Stockton Unified School District's first female police sergeant, joining the district in 2008. In her tenure with the district, Pinto had been assigned to Chavez High School, served as a patrol officer and was part of the department's community policing effort.

Pinto lived in Sacramento and was on her way to work. The accident took place on southbound Highway 99 just south of the Highway 12 interchange in Lodi before 6 a.m. Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHURCH FORGIVES THIEVES & VANDALS: STOCKTON  - The congregation at Shiloh Delta Valley Church learned that burglars broke in one night two weeks ago and stole thousands of dollars worth of musical equipment, electronics and other items.

Pastor Jerry Cook thinks the thieves came through a back door, and they didn't just take from the church, they left it in shambles.

Despite the loss, Cook said he understands that times are tough and in the spirit of the holiday, the church would like to reach out to the burglars.

"I'd love to meet you, and I'd love to meet you without any repercussions," Cook said.

The pastor said the church just recently moved into the new building, and despite the break-in, Sunday services will continue.
