4 INJURED AFTER CHRISTMAS PARTY TURNS VIOLENT: ALAMEDA (AP) — Four people were injured after police say a woman attacked members of her family with a box cutter during a Christmas party in Alameda.

Alameda police Sgt. Jeff Emmitt said 42-year-old Tiffany Thomas was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and causing traumatic injury to a child.

Emmitt says the Thomas attacked two females, including a teenage girl, and a man after some kind of argument.

The injuries to Thomas and the victims were not considered life-threatening.

The attack took place at the Shinsei Gardens Apartments, and investigators were still working on figuring out what spurred the violence.

Emmitt told the paper that one of the victims was injured after trying to break up the fight.

POSTAL WORKER FAULKS MAIL THEFT CHARGES: SAN CARLOS (AP) — A San Francisco Bay area postal worker is facing charges that he stole thousands of pieces of mail to obtain credit cards that he then gave out to friends.

The San Mateo Daily Journal reports that 38-year-old Romeo Maniulit Natan has pleaded not guilty to identity theft, possession of stolen property and second-degree burglary. He entered the plea during a court appearance on Friday.

Authorities say Natan mostly targeted a San Carlos neighborhood and was nabbed after surveillance video at a Target store caught him using stolen cards.

A search of his San Bruno home allegedly turned up bags of undelivered mail.

CHRISTMAS BABY DELIVERED EARLY BY SAN JOSE DAD: SAN JOSE (AP) — Christmas brought an early gift to a San Jose household where a baby boy ended up being delivered by his dad.

Joe Heyming got the job of attending to his son's birth when his wife Erin went into labor two weeks early Tuesday. Her contractions advanced to show time before the midwife who was supposed to assist the couple could arrive.

The Heymings relied on what they had learned from childbirth classes and the home birth of their 20-month-old son to get through it.

Joe Heyming advised 28-year-old Erin to stand up so gravity would be on her side and caught the newborn's head as he came out. The midwife came a little while after the baby and took over.

NOVATO MAN PLEADS NOT GUILTY IN ALLEGED WEB FRAUD: NOVATO (AP) — A Novato man has pleaded not guilty to charges in an alleged Internet fraud scheme that bilked people out of tens of thousands of dollars.

The Marin Independent Journal reported on Tuesday that 49-year-old John Winston Boone entered the plea earlier this month. He was charged with nine counts of wire fraud.

Authorities say Boone sold website domain names and content, telling his customers that his previous websites had generated advertising revenue and showing them falsified financial documents and PayPal records. He allegedly cut off contact with them when they realized they were not receiving revenue.

He is accused of bilking customers out of $69,000.

CHRISTMAS EVE ATTACK NEAR OAKLAND CHURCH WOUNDS 2: OAKLAND AP) — Oakland police say an attacker began shooting outside a church on Christmas Eve, wounding a parishioner and a teenager.

Gunfire erupted shortly after 9 p.m. Monday outside Centro Evangelistico Bethel in East Oakland. Police say a 17-year-old was fired on as he left a liquor store that shares a parking lot with the church in a high-crime area.

Two bullets penetrated the wall of the church, where a pastor was giving a sermon about the meaning of Christmas. A 38-year-old woman was wounded as she shielded her 7-year-old twins. She was hospitalized in stable condition.

Pastor Edvin Salguero says he helped shepherd about 100 other parishioners, including crying children, into a back room.
