James W. Spanjersberg, 79, entered into rest on July 28, 2010 in Stockton, California. He was born on June 7, 1931 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack and Pearl Spanjersberg in Oakland, California. He joins his parents in heaven as well as his siblings; John Spanjersberg and Emma Johnson.

Mr. Spanjersberg is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Patricia Spanjersberg. He has 5 children; John Poole of Oroville, Russell Poole of Shingletown, Kevin Spanjersberg of Oakdale, Vicky Hocket of Twain Harte and Valerian Spanjersberg of Manteca. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

 James proudly served his country with the United States Air Force for four years before being honorably discharged. He retired after 30 years as a machinist from Pacific Roller and Dye in Hayward. He was known around the neighborhood and to his family as “Mr. Fix It.” James’ heart was always giving; he always lent a helping hand to anyone who was in need. He was  extremely proud of his garden and was always willing to show off his fish pond that he built in his backyard. James will be remembered as a generous man who was well respected by all who knew him. He will be missed.

 Mr. Spanjersberg’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 2, 2010 from 1 to 5 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. Prayer service will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 10 a.m. also held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at a later date at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
