Ruth A. Thomson passed away on April 19, 2010 at Bethany Home in Ripon, California, at the age of 85.  She was born on August 8, 1924 in Cleveland, Tennessee, to the late Harvey and Lillie Thompson.  Ruth was preceded in death by her late husband of 46 years, Robert S. Thomson, and her daughter, the late Barbara Thomson Kelley.

Ruth is survived by her children: son, Frank Thomson and his wife, Lorna, and daughter Bobbie Thomson Frisk and her companion Jerry Seifert, all of Manteca; her 6 grandchildren, Mike Kelley and wife Lisa of Ripon, Kevin Frisk and wife Jennica of Lodi, Jason Frisk and wife Rebecca of Manteca, Mitch Frisk and wife Jennifer of Ripon, Clint Thomson of Manteca and Sarah Thomson Van Arsdell and husband Justin of Manteca; 9 great-grandchildren, Zak Kelley, Alec Kelley, Nicholas Frisk, Lauren Frisk, Brooke Frisk, Hunter Frisk, Austin Frisk, Ryan Van Arsdell, and Kyle Van Arsdell.  She is also survived by brother-in-law Richard Thomson of Green Valley, Arizona.

She was a resident of Manteca for 69 years.

Ruth attended Hardy Junior High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee where she received certificates of perfect attendance and penmanship awards.  She represented Hardy Junior High School in a National Spelling Bee contest.  

She was very involved in the activities of her children.  She served as Room Mother at Lincoln, Yosemite, Lindbergh and Sequoia Elementary schools.  She was also active with the Manteca Union High School cheerleading and athletic programs.  She served as Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary Manteca Unit #0249. Ruth was an avid doll collector and was very proud of her flower garden.

Ruth will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.  

Graveside Memorial service to be held Friday, May 7, 2010 at Park View Cemetery, 3661 East French Camp Road, Manteca at 11:00 a.m.
