Lathrop JV batters Beyer in WAC finale

Lathrop scored 37 first-half points and rolled to a 51-0 shellacking of visiting Beyer behind three Jayden White touchdowns to wrap up the Western Athletic Conference junior varsity campaign at Bennie Gatto Field on Friday.

White (10 carries, 106 yards) scored on runs of 5, 5 and 8 yards. Aleksel Sanchez (two carries, 81 yards) scored on a 75-yard scamper, Elijah Munoz (seven carries, 55 yards) added a 26-yard touchdown run and Keoni Green (four carries, 41 yards) scored on a 5-yard run. Reyes Guerrero pulled in a 53-yard touchdown throw from Darylon Reyno.

White made five tackles, and Aiden Remonida four.

The Spartans finish 2-4-1 in the WAC, 2-7-1 overall, and the Patriots 0-7, 0-10.


Ripon 27, Hilmar 7

Andrew Shaw ran for three touchdowns and threw for one for the visiting Indians (6-0 Trans Valley League, 10-0 overall) to help them win the battle of unbeatens.

Shaw ground out 174 yards on 15 carries and was 8-of-14 passing for 143 yards with a touchdown pass to Marco Arroyo (two receptions, 80 yards).

Ripon’s sophomore class finished undefeated at the lower levels.


Oakdale 16, Manteca 13

Trailing 16-0 at halftime, the host Buffaloes (4-2 Valley Oak League, 7-2-1) could not overcome three turnovers and catch up to the Mustangs (5-1, 8-2) at Guss Schmiedt Field.

Manteca lost a fumble on the Oakdale 10-yard line in the final minute.

Roman Duvernay (13 carries, 71 yards) scored on 1- and 15-yard carries to lead the Buffaloes. Luke Avila chipped in 61 yards on 12 carries and Jeremiah Orona was 7 of 8 passing for 89 yards. JuJu Ramirez tallied five receptions for 57 yards. Madden Melendez and Angelo Aguilar also contributed on offense.

Luke Avila and Dean Sortonis made six tackles, with three apiece for Joey Aucello and Aryan Singh.


Mountain House 29, East Union 26

Ricky Soria scored two touchdowns on kickoff returns and one on a reception for the Lancers (2-4, 4-6).

Soria (four receptions, 52 yards) legged out kickoff returns of 75 and 78 yards for scores, and pulled in a 26-yard scoring pass from Max Abrew (5 of 14 passing, 63 yards). Nathan Bettencourt added a touchdown on a 60-yard interception return. Adrian Sena added 23 yards on 10 carries.

Bettencourt and Jesse Martinez tallied six tackles each with five apiece for Nathan New and Shane Saenz.

The Mustangs finish 2-4, 5-5.


Freshman

Manteca 22, Oakdale 0

Brody Carabello totaled more than 200 all-purpose yards for the Buffaloes (5-1, 8-2) at the Corral on Thursday.

Carabello (7 of 9 passing, 94 yards, interception; 16 carries, 136 yards) scored on a 9-yard run and threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Brixton Menchaca-Ortiz (two catches, 38 yards; 12 carries, 47 yards).

Menchaca-Ortiz added a 1-yard touchdown run. Josiah Moreno chipped in three catches for 39 yards.

Carabello made eight tackles, Menchaca-Ortiz seven, Brennan McMichael six, Moreno five with three each for Bode Hiatt (interception) and Camden Rogers.

The Mustangs finish 4-2, 7-2


Lathrop 37, Beyer 0

Dario Joseph returned the second-half kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown and followed that with a 75-yard interception return for a score as part of a 19-point third period for the Spartans (5-2, 6-4) at Johansen High School.

Lathrop’s Didier Lafaro (five carries, 110 yards) scored on a 39-yard run and on a 4-yard touchdown pass from Randal Wright. Samari Sumpter (five carries, 25 yards) added 1- and 3-yard touchdown runs and Jaylen Santos gained 46 yards on three carries.

Sael Sanchez made four tackles for the Spartans, Joshua Talalele three and Eshan Clair added an interception.

The Patriots finish 0-6, 0-8.
