We didn’t come out with the right energy and were turnover machines. We outscored the, 35-24 in the second half, so hopefully that’s something to get us going for our last game of the tournament.”

Ripon plays either McNair or Stagg in the seventh-place game today.

East Union 33, Central Valley 31

The Lancers relied on defense in their non-league tilt at Dalben Center.

They weathered a 9-0 deficit in the opening minutes and got a big lift from Luke Weaver and Anthony Sy, who each missed the team’s last game. Sy led the way with 12 points, while Weaver had 10. Coach Charles Legan said Dylan Lee and Alex Cuevas were the sparks defensively.

“Really proud of the defense those guys played,” Legan said. “Sometimes the shot won’t fall, but the sign of a good team is that it will always play defense.”
