Sierra senior Mikaella Manto placed second in a Valley Oak League tournament held at Manteca Park Golf Course on Wednesday.

Five schools were represented but only three had enough to fill teams. Oakdale finished on top with a 445 and was led by medalist Kaylie Parola’s 6-over 78. Manto finished with a 79.

Kimball took second with a 557 followed by Sierra’s 608.

East Union’s Brittney Barrington carded the third best score on the individual leaderboard with an 82. Fellow Lancer Ashley Trinidad finished in a fourth-place tie with Oakdale’s Hannah Herschbach with am 84.

Emalyne Lundbom and Mohrgen Kissee shot a 105 and 107, respectively. Julia Erdman added a 102 for Sierra.

The VOL Championships takes place Oct. 19 at Micke Grove Golf Links in Lodi.

 

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Lathrop 3, Johansen 0

The second-place Spartans traveled to Johansen and returned with a 25-15, 25-19, 25-15 Western Athletic Conference victory.

Sydney Hanks (three aces) and LaNicia Ellis spearheaded the attack with six kills apiece. Alaba Olaleye added five kills, and Krystle Sakay had four to go with three aces and seven digs.

Thracylie Acoba finished with a team-high 12 digs along with four aces. Camila De La Garza distributed 22 assists.

 

JV volleyball

Lathrop 2, Johansen 0

The Spartans rolled 25-16, 25-12 behind Janessa Ward’s eight aces and seven assists.

Julissa Aguilar contributed three aces. Celeste Narvarez had five digs and two aces. Elizabeth Andrade and Mailynn Aguilar (two aces) crushed three kills each.

 

Frosh volleyball

Lathrop 2, Johansen 0

Annie Millan racked up six aces and three digs to highlight Lathrop’s 25-17, 25-11 win.

Jada Oliver pitched in four aces and two digs. Alyssa Roller handed out six assists. Annabelle Obasuyi had a pair of kills.
