OAKLAND (AP) — Oakland Athletics right fielder Josh Reddick returned from a second stint on the disabled list because of an injured right knee.

Reddick, who was activated Tuesday, was sidelined June 29 with the right knee strain after sitting out June 1-23 with a hyperextended knee. Manager Bob Melvin plans to have Reddick — who will wear a brace — in the lineup often because of his bat and defensive presence.

Also Tuesday, Melvin said he spoke briefly the day before with pitcher Tommy Milone about his request for a trade given his recent success and demotion. The left-hander went 6-0 with a 2.62 ERA over 11 starts when he was sent down July 5 following the trade for Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel.

Melvin says, “He wants to pitch in the big leagues and I don’t blame him.”
