One day after producing 14 runs on 16 hits in a shutout of Franklin, East Union’s softball club continued to rake Tuesday in a 13-2 drubbing at Modesto.

Freshman pitcher Michelle Castro was among the hot hitters, as she slugged a bases-clearing triple and drove in two more with a single to highlight a 2-for-5 outing. From the circle, she struck out four and surrendered four hits, two walks and two runs in five innings.

Cherish Burks was 3 for 4 with three RBIs. Tea Solorio finished 2 for 2 with a two-run triple. Jordan Vinson (2 runs) and Alejandra Rascon (3 RBIs) each went 2 for 4. East Union totaled 14 hits.

“We’re starting to swing the bat pretty good, and hopefully we can maintain that,” EU coach Brian Goulart said.

The Lancers (6-1) cap their preleague schedule Saturday at Northgate Softball Complex, where they will host Ripon for their annual fundraising game for cancer awareness. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
