An early Wednesday afternoon pursuit from North Main Street beginning near the Highway 99 off ramp led Manteca Police through the city at speeds over 50 miles per hour and ended when Desiree Suarez, 29, attempted to make a left turn onto Moffat Boulevard from southbound Spreckels Avenue and crashed.
Officers said Saurez then side swiped a semi-rig waiting at the intersection and spun out into a 2016 Chevy Cruze that was headed westbound at the same signal.
Suarez was being pursued by detective Lance Casqueiro of the MPD gang unit in his unmarked car followed by a black and white patrol car driving through surface streets that took them down Main Street and onto North Street driving eastward past Doctors Hospital.
After the motorist crashed at the Moffat and Spreckels intersection, officers took her out of her car and placed her in handcuffs and laid her face down on the pavement until medics arrived, treated her at the scene and transported her to a local hospital.
Sgt. Gregg Beall said she was charged with possession of methamphetamine for sale and felony evading of a police officer. After treatment at a local hospital she was transported to San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.
Moffat Boulevard was closed to traffic for more than 30 minutes due to the crash.
