There isn’t a gamble whether your money will go toward a good cause during the HOPE Shelter Texas Hold ’em & Bingo Tournament of Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry Lane.

HOPE Ministries has helped more than 2,000 Manteca area homeless families since the doors to their first shelter opened 20 years ago. The non-profit organization was born in the middle of the recession that followed the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, the winding down of the aerospace industry, and massive closure of military bases in California. HOPE Ministries now struggles in the midst of the Great Recession to meet a need that has increased proportionately with Manteca’s record post World War II unemployment rate of 16 percent.

The fundraiser offers no-host cocktails and snacks from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by Texas Hold ‘em and Bingo from 7 to 11 p.m. There will be cash prices for Bingo as well as prizes for all final table poker players.

A poker buy-in of $50 secures $2,000 in chips. Optional re-buys and add-ons are available.

Bingo is $25 for a four-pack and $10 per additional pack.

Tickets or more information are available from the HOPE Shelter at 824-0652, the Manteca Senior Center at 456-8650, or Raymus Homes at 824-3080.
