STOCKTON — The 2nd Annual California Garlic Festival takes place August 5-6 at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds in Stockton.
Festival organizers, Noceti Group, Inc. is again offering a scholarship pageant and princess program for women and
“We are delighted to welcome back Shim Lacy, to coordinate this great pageant program for us,” noted Danica Noceti-Keleher, the marketing director for the festival and Noceti Group, Inc., a motorsports and entertainment company that includes the Stockton 99 Speedway, Stockton Dirt Track, Little 99 Kart & Moto Track as well as the San Joaquin Asparagus Festival.
“Shim had unprecedented success reviving the Asparagus Festival queen program these past two years and she continues to grow our scholarship program in her second year at the helm.”
Noceti-Keleher of French Camp and Lacy of Manteca are joined by Judi Horton of Lockeford to round out the pageant leadership team as the Technical Director for the pageant show.
Three queens will be chosen, a Teen representing ages 12-15, Miss for ages 16-21 and Ms. for ages 18+ of any marital or maternal status. They will receive custom embroidered sashes and crowns.
Additional awards include $1,000 for the Miss division winner, $250 for the Teen Division winner, an array of gift certificates for the Ms. division winner, and special awards such as spirit and photogenic.
The pageant will take place on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 12:30 p.m. on the Community Stage.
Contestants compete in three phases of competition; 50% interview, 25% formal wear, 25% on-stage question.
The contestants will be led by the returning queens from the inaugural festival held in Summer of 2022 and includes Teen Miss California Garlic Festival - Mallory Myers of Manteca, Miss California Garlic Festival - Brooklynn Cockriel of Ripon and Ms. California Garlic Festival Kayla Schmidig-Jimenez of Lodi, who will be on hand to help with crowning ceremonies, performing in the show, and various hosting duties.
The festival will also once again offer their popular Garlic Princess Program for little girls ages 11 & under.
The Princess Program is designed to be an introduction into pageants, providing an opportunity for young girls to experience the fun and excitement of being on stage, without the pressure of the competition.
All princess participants will participate in a showcase that includes fashion runway and on-stage questions; and then each of them will be crowned LIVE on stage by the brand new California Garlic Festival Queens during the Princess Show on Sunday, Aug. 6, at 12:30 p.m.
on the Community Stage.
The festival entry includes access to the pageant, entertainment, classic car show, photography contest, and hundreds of vendors all in a safe, family-friendly atmosphere.
There will be plenty of safe, family fun including games, a petting zoo, monster truck rides and more. Delicious food vendors featuring the signature ingredient of garlic, will be offering loads of temptations along with the Garlic Alley building serving up delicious garlic fries, garlic mushroom bread bowls and the hit festival novelty: the roasted garlic and maple ice cream.
