The Christmas Light Parade continues to get bigger and bigger.
So says Ripon Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Kelly Donohue, who will have the most-ever parade entries for tonight’s event at 46.
“Bring your chairs, hot chocolate, and smiles and watch the light parade pass through downtown Ripon,” she said.
The Christmas Light Parade will begin at 6 o’clock, starting at Almond Valley Christian Reformed Church at 333 S. Wilma Ave., enroute to West Main Street and traveling east through downtown to Industrial Avenue.
The theme of this year’s parade is Christmas Movie Classics – as in ‘It’s A Wonderful Life,’ ‘A Christmas Carol,’ and ‘Miracle on 34th Street,’ to name a few.
The Christmas Light Parade is being held in collaboration with the Ripon Consolidated Fire District, Ripon Police Department, and the Ripon Chamber of Commerce.
“The Christmas Light Parade is on my favorite (parades),” said Ripon City Councilman Gary Barton at Tuesday’s meeting.
He and his colleagues – Mayor Leo Zuber, Vice Mayor Daniel de Graaf, Dean Uecker, and Michael Restuccia – will be involved in the parade along with various schools, churches, and community organizations in town.
The forecast for Thursday evening calls for clear skies with temperatures hovering in the 50s.
Donohue added that the Ripon Coffeehouse at 150 N. Wilma Ave. #10 will be open for those looking to grab a hot drink. “It’s on the parade route,” she said.
