Ripon Unified offers grab & go lunches

Since last week, students of the Ripon Unified School District have been able to enjoy a free meal.

The “Grab & Go” Meal Service – available to those attending Colony Oak, Park View, Weston, Ripon El., Ripona, Ripon High and Harvest High – is offered at the Ripon Elementary School cafeteria from 11 a.m. to noon, Mondays through Fridays.

“We have added an additional treat for our students with the Grab & Go meals,” said Superintendent Ziggy Robeson on Wednesday. “They received a book one day and today they received a special surprise.”

That surprise on this day was Robeson working and helping out with the meals for students ages 2 through 18 in the school kitchen.

“It was the highlight of my day,” she added.

The menu during this shutdown period – schools are currently suspended through mid-April due to the COVID-16 pandemic – was beef taco stick for lunch and yogurt parfait for breakfast.

Ripon Elementary is located at 509 W. Main St.

Most of the Grab & Go meals have been drive-ups, according to Robeson. “Staff has been excited to see students even though it’s through their car windows,” she said.

Students must be present to receive the daily free lunch and breakfast at the central RUSD location.
