NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities say a man has been freed from a Tennessee prison more than two years after his wife lied about him threatening her.
The Tennessean reports 33-year-old Robert E. Polk of Nashville was released Nov. 23, days after the state parole board agreed to reinstate his parole. Polk’s parole in a drug case had been revoked in 2014 after his wife claimed he had threatened her with a gun.
Assistant District Attorney General Vince Wyatt told the parole board in September that Polk’s wife acknowledged she made up the incident. She has been convicted of perjury.
The report says Polk’s incarceration cost state taxpayers more than $54,000 and he also lost his job doing electrical work and was separated from his children. He’s seeking work through staffing agencies.
