Joan M. Woods, 79, entered into rest on August 11, 2010 in Manteca, California. She was born on May 26, 1931 in New York to the late Mr. and Mrs. George and Anna Gilbert. She joins her parents in heaven as well as her husband John Henry Woods, her son Fredrick Michael Carter and her brother Arthur Gilbert.

Mrs. Woods is survived by her sister Grace Easton of NY and her nieces and nephews Kevin Easton, Linda Easton, George Easton, Douglas Easton, Barbara Woodhouse, Kathi Schultz, Arthur Gilbert, Heather Johnson, and Clairece Kramptner.  Joan is also survived by her caretaker of 20 years and friend Audel Mendoza.

Joan was a member of Sequoia Heights Baptist Church of Manteca where she highly respected her Senior Pastor Dr. Mark Mahaffie. She was a Pink Lady for 21 years through Doctors Hospital of Manteca where she enjoyed helping and ministering to others who were in need. Joan was an extremely active lady; she enjoyed exercising and dancing.  She loved traveling especially to her favorite place, Hawaii. Joan will be remembered as an outgoing and friendly lady who had a zest for life. She will be missed.

Mrs. Woods’ services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Visitation will be held on Thursday Aug. 19, 2010 starting at 10 a.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. A celebration of life service will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. also held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at a later date at Parkview Cemetery.
