Scott Lee Kane, 71, died Friday, May12, 2017 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, CA following a battle with cancer.
   Born Novemeber 1, 1947 in Miller, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Leola Kane of Rapid City, South Dakota. He is survived by Charlene Kane; his daughter Kim Haines of Ripon, husband Keith Haines; his son Branon Kane of Austin, wife Jody Kane.; grandchildren Dyllon Haines, Cody Haines, Brayden Haines, Emery Kane, Weston Kane; companion Kathy Means and many friends.
   After graduating from Rapid City High School, Scott received his BA from University of South Dakota in 1968.  Scott and Charlene came out to California in 1968 to pursue teaching careers. Scott taught for thirteen years at River School and Ripon Elementary.  Building and contracting led him into becoming an active participant in local businesses as well as additional family business endeavors including attaining his brokerage license.
   Scott enjoyed coaching sports for many years and as a grandad was a supportive spectator for all of the children’s activities. He also loved fishing, golf, hunting and participating in gin tournaments and was a long time member of Spring Creek Golf Club. He also had a soft spot for animals and is survived by his companion, Dakota who will reside with his daughter Kim Haines.
He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
   A celebration of life in his honor will take place Wednesday  May 17th at 4pm. at the Ripon VFW hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Scott Kane’s name can be made to the Ripon Quarterback Club, the local champion for girls’ and boys’ youth sports, at www.riponqbclub.com.
