STOCKTON – It was a tough day for local wrestlers at Delta College with just two local grapplers surviving the first day.

East Union’s Joe Luna (138) started the day with a pair of wins by decision before getting pinned with just five seconds left in the quarterfinals. Luna will begin today in the consolation bracket and needs to win two matches to qualify for the state championships.

Manteca’s Dominik Neuharth (105) tallied a first-round pin before being dispatched to the consolation bracket in the second round. Facing elimination, Neuharth won his next two matches by pin and like Luna must win two matches to qualify for state.

Wrestling begins this morning at 9 at Delta College.
