Sierra High’s boys tennis team jumpstarted its season Wednesday with a one-sided 8-1 win over visiting West of Tracy in a non-league match held at the Manteca Regional Tennis Center.
Quentin Banks made quick work of Ethan Miller 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match. No. 2 Fabian Barba defeated Brandon Doan, 6-0, 6-3. Jason Machado held off Chance Bills 6-2, 7-6 (3) at No. 3, while David Martin (6-1, 6-4) and Milton Yamamo (6-1, 6-1) also swept from the Nos. 5 and 6 spots.
Ayash Thakur provided the only win for West, edging out Jassan Gill, 6-7, 6-4, 10-2.
Justin Lacdao and Ben Perez won at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, 6-1. David Vera and Juan Ponce prevailed at No. 2 doubles, 6-2, 6-3. Nick Alonzo and Aaron Crawford followed with a 6-0, 6-4 win.
Sierra travels to Tracy High today in its final tune-up for the Valley Oak League season.

TRACY — The Spartans (3-0) ended their VOL reunion tour undefeated, cruising past Kimball, 25-17, 25-12, 25-12.
R.J. Carmesis led the attack with 22 assists and three aces. Gabriel Gutierrez contributed with eight kills and six aces. Sergio Tapia added six kills, Tyler Riggleman hammered five to go with five assists and Adrian Corona blasted a pair of kills and served four aces.
Lathrop won scrimmages against Sierra and East Union last week, and rolled through Weston Ranch, reigning champion Manteca and Kimball in its first official matches. Pacheco visits tonight to start Western Athletic Conference play.
